Biographical note
Council dealt with financial matters until a separate Finance Committee was established in 1916.
Apart from 1939-1943, when, like most of the committees, it was in abeyance, the Finance Committee continued until 1974 when it became the Finance and General Purposes Committee.
In Nov 1983 it amalgamated with the Executive Committee to became the Planning and Resources Committee, to be succeeded by the Policy and Resources Committee in Oct 1985.
