Elsie Widdowson (1906-2000) was a pioneer of the scientific study of nutrition, working largely at Cambridge University. Professor Young contributed a chapter on Widdowson to the book Women Physiologists, ed. L. Bindman, A. Brading, T.Tansey, Portland Press on behalf of the Physiological Society, 1993.
