Description
The centenary of the birth of Lord Lister in 1927 was marked by an exhibition at the WHMM organised in conjunction with The Royal Society, The British Universities Hopitals and Medical and Surgical Colleges. Lord Lister's Ward from the Glasgow Royal Infirmary was transferred to the WHMM after its demolition in 1924 and formed he centrepiece of the exhibition, supplemented by loaned materials from various institutions, including the Lister Institute, and the Royal College of Surgeons Museum, as well as relatives and coleagues of Lord Lister.
These files relate to the transfer of the Lister Ward, organisation of the exhibition and its associated receptions.
This series includes correspondence which seems to have been removed at some point from the chronological correspondence series [WA/HMM/CO/Chr], chiefly with correspondents whose surnames begin with A-C. Other correspondence relating to the Lister exhibits remains in the chronological series
