About this work

Description

Following concerns over the preservation of the Society's records, Prof Richard C Nairn was appointed honorary archivist in 1990. He was planning to write a history of the BSI but died in August 1995 before beginning it. However, he did publish a booklet, The Shoulders We Stand On: The British Society for Immunology: A brief account of the Society's origins with biographical memoirs of distinguished founders and other members no longer with us [c.1995]. The 'brief account' was reprinted from an article by Nairn, 'The British Society for Immunology: the early years' in BSI Newsletter, No 267, Sep 1993 [see N.1/4].
