The aliment which constitutes the food of man, after being masticated, is conveyed into the stomach, and converted into a bland, uniform, pulpy mass, which is called chyme. When this operation is completed, it passes into the intestines, where it is separated into two parts, one of which, closely resem- bles milk, and is called chyle; the other, which is excrementitious matter, passes through the alimentary canal, and is ejected from the body.
