Biographical note
WIGO was founded 1983 by women doctors working in obstetrics and gynaecology. It aims to:
- increase the number of women gynaecologists at Consultant level;
- increase the contribution of women gynaecologists to decision-making within the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and other professional organisations;
- improve the training programme in the specialty;
- act as a pressure group both for women in the specialty and for women as patients in order to improve standards of care.
