About this work

Description

Photocopies and typed transcripts of two letters from Queen Victoria to Anna Maria Russell, Duchess of Bedford. The originals, dated 31 October 1839 and 24 April 1848, appear to have been in L S Penrose's possession but later sold.



Includes one letter dated 28 June 1938 from E G Rendall of the British Museum to Penrose stating that the letters above do not appear in The Letters of Queen Victoria: a selection from Her Majesty's Correspondence between the years 1837 and 1861, edited by A C Benson.
