Description

Three screw tourniquets mounted for display in the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum's surgery exhibition, 1947-1948: a Bavarian one made of wood, c.1750 (left); a tourniquet devised by Signoroni in 1838 (centre); and one devised by Petit and first described by him in 1718. All three were acquired by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum and an unknown point. The Petit screw tourniquet was given the accession number R19579. The items are not held by Wellcome Collection.
