Description

Writings, letters, poems etc either by, or relating to, patients at The Retreat Comprises the following 1. Poems: 'A Musical Instrument' etc 2. Letter to Dr Baker asking if building alterations can be left until spring so they can get out of doors at that time 3. 3 letters by patients complaining about being at The Retreat 4. 3 photographs of 'Ethel, October 1885'; photographer is from Reading, and Ethel is a small girl (it is assumed this is a patient's relative, although it is also possible it is a personal contact of Dr Baker since they are in an envelope sent to him) 5. Multiplication tables, written out 6. Letter by patient asking recipient (Dr Baker probably) not to trust his brother who wants him out of the way to get hold of the business 7. Letter written by patient at Belle Vue in French 8. A variety of printed and manuscript items found loose with letters from 1885 - 1886, including visiting cards, advertisements, printed verses etc
