Biographical note

Thomas Buzzard was educated at King's College Hospital and joined the British Army staff in the Crimea immediately after qualifying M.D. in 1855. On his return he made his career as a neurologist. In 1873 he became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians; a brief biography, accordingly, is to be found in William Munk's The roll of the Royal College of Physicians of London ("Munk's Roll"). Late in life Thomas Buzzard published With the Turkish Army in the Crimea and Asia Minor: a personal narrative (London: John Murray, 1915); a copy of this is to be found in the Wellcome Library (collection: RAMC publications; shelfmark: 820).
