Biographical note
The Reverend George Charles Black of Norwood Green, Middlesex, was brother-in-law to Dr. Edward Jenner, having married his sister Mary (who died in 1810). He appears possibly to have been a Naval chaplain, as the sermons from 1745 to 1749 are dated "at Sea".
Many of the separate sermons bear the signature of Sarah Bloxsome, née Davies, the daughter of the Rev. William Davies (1769-1849) who was Edward Jenner's nephew.
