"As Secretary of the Company I am of course bound to carry into effect the instructions of my Board, but as a Director of the Company I think it is my duty to state that, in my personal judgement, the compromise you proposed to Sir Richard Cooper last week would, if adopted, secure an inadequate shareholding for our Company and would be difficult to justify to our shareholders" (pp. 1-2). 16 March, 1925. "Memorandum of particulars of settlement effected shewing how the shareholdings of W Cooper & Nephews Ltd, McDougall & Robertson Ltd, and McDougall & Yalding Ltd, will stand in the Amalgamated Company". With a note of average annual profits for each company (for valuation purposes): £118,000 (WCNLtd), £22,000 (MRLtd), and £25,000 (MYLtd).
