About this work

Description

The file comprises two further edited versions of the text from the uncompleted project, together with two letters to Crick from Peter Kindersley (of the publishers Dorling Kindersley Ltd) and a copy of a detailed letter from Molly Cox (Producer, Children's Programmes, BBC).

Cox commented (letter to Kindersley, 1 September, 1976): "There seems to me to be a fundamental difficulty in the basic idea. There are two arguments going - one, a physics type explanation of scale - which is always relative and between one thing and another and keeps getting muddled up in my mind (non-scientific) with mass, density, distance, magnitude and so forth. I'm sure there might be a successful book to be written about this; it would need to be much simpler - I don't think it's the book that Francis Crick has written, or it seems to me, particularly wants to write...."
