Description
Minutes and reports of visitations by the Visitors appointed by the Justices of the Peace of Sussex in Quarter Sessions under the Care and Treatment of Insane Persons Act of 1832 (2 & 3 Will. IV, c.107) and subsequent Acts. The same volumes were used to record visitations by the Metropolitan Commissioners in Lunacy under the Lunatic Asylums Act of 1842 (5 & 6 Vict. c.87) and by the Commissioners in Lunacy (subsequently the Commissioners of the Board of Control) under the Lunatics Act of 1845 (8 & 9 Vict. c.100) and subsequent legislation.
