In 1966 Flight Lieutenant Marengo-Rowe carried out a research project investigating blood characteristics in the people of southern Arabia. When he returned to England in 1967, he become Lecturer in Haematology in the Department of Pathology, Radcliffe Infirmary, Oxford. He later became Associate Professor, Department of Pathology, University of Texas Medical School at San Antonio, USA.
