Notes

This work is untitled: the title has been supplied by the cataloguer.
The following description was provided by James Gardiner: "The enduring myth of the sailor as a sexual libertine (with a girl in every port, but having to endure long sea voyages with no female company whatsoever), finds expression in much gay pornography, from the 1900s on. [This postcard] from the 1950s would have been sold 'under the counter' in bookshops, and distributed privately. It is interesting from the point of view of being identifiably British ( most 'pornography' being imported from France or North Africa), and very high quality reproduction."
