    2 A.D. 1873.—N° 11. Provisional Specification. Philippi's Improved Smelling Bottles. upon which an upper and movable plate turns. This upper plate is likewise provided with two holes at diametrically opposite points. To move the upper plate on its axis the head of the bottle is turned partly round by hand; this head carries two inner pins which take into notches in the edge of the movable plate. Two other pins fitted 5 to the head take into a groove on the threaded collar and retain the head on this collar while they at the same time by coming against stops in the groove limit the travel of the head to a quarter revolution.
