About this work

Description

Several pieces of fabric including a black lace fabric, large blue and white checkered pattern fabric (similar to that in A.12), a large red and white patterned fabric and several small pieces of lace and hand stitched textile and needlework samples of various designs. Material was originally stored with the label 'Mexican Needle Work 'Specimens obtained by Mr Wellcome in Mexico. Very Special'. Whilst the box contains some needlework and artwork in Spanish, it appears to be mixed with material in English and styles more typical of European cultures.
