Biographical note
Thomas Hugh Markham (c1826-1868), 5th son of Charles Markham of Northampton, Barrister, Inner Temple 1851, legal writer. The letter was written whilst Markham was in Karlsruhe, Germany, giving an account of the cholera epidemic through Europe, and was posted via France and the earlier postmark is Strasbourg 11 Sept.
