Other tables of a more specific nature are incorporated in the later sections of this report dealing with Infectious Diseases generally, Tuberculosis, Venereal Diseases, Maternity and Child Welfare, Mental Deficiency, and Blind Persons. In the following table the causes of death at different periods of life, as sup¬ plied by the Registrar General, are given for the year 1928. The inclusion of this is considered desirable by the Ministry of Health for the purpose of comparison with the figures for other areas, and relates to deaths registered in the calendar year, which totalled 747. The remainder of the figures relating to deaths in other tables of this report are those of the actual deaths which occurred during the year, totalling 746, and have been compiled locally.
