Biographical note

This chalk drawing was bound into the volume of artwork, '1886 Art in Madness by W. A. F. Browne'., found by the Health Board Archivist in 1983 along with the much earlier works that had been collected by Dr W. A. F. Browne, DGH1/7/3/1. Originally the date was read as 1844 and as a result the work was assumed to part of Dr W. A. F. Browne's collection, however the Health Board Archivist later discovered it was the work of an artist-patient admitted to Crichton Royal Hospital in 1943.
