    <?0 'T’HK LFYBUR*1 RURAL DISTRICT COUNCIL. Gentlemen, I have pleasure in I *ying before you my twenty- eighth animal report on the Sanitary condition of my District, together with the tables of vital statistics and an account of the cases of Infectious Diseases noti¬ fied during the year. The total number of deaths in tho district was 77, giving a rate of 12,45 per thousand. This. Is one death less t last year, when the rate per 1000 was 12.88* Of these 77 deaths, 10 were over ro years of age, 15 above 89 years of age, and 2 above UO, making 35 deaths over 70 years, nearly half the total number of deaths. This speaks well for the healthy state of the district. The births registered were 125, giving a birth rate per 1000 of 20.22, 10 deaths of children under 1 year were notified, making a rate of 80 per 1000 births registered. This is a considerable improve ?ent on last year, but it is still greater than it ought to be, 4 of these deaths wore due to premature birth, ho deaths have occurred from Influenza during tho past year. The total number of cases of infectious; diceaaes notified during the year was 22. Of these 8 were Scarlet vever, 7 were Erysipelas, 3 Diphtheria and 4 Fnierle Fever. Of the cases of dearlot Fever 6 occurred at Constable Burton, 1 at Tloraby, and 1 at bensley. wore mostly of a very mild type. The echo 1 u s closed at Constable Burton and this, no doubt, checked the spread of the disease in that neighbourhood. Of the Diphtheria cases 1 occurred at Mlddlehara, 1 at Bpenni- ( 1 )
