Mr. Chairman and Members, This Report has been prepared in the form and sequence as required by the Ministry of Health Form Port 20, dated October, 1952. The health of seamen arriving in vessels has been good and no case of infectious disease was reported during the year. The conditions and amenities for seamen on the majority of foreign-going vessels is good, but this cannot be said of many coastwise vessels. It is again pleasing to report the absence of rats and other vermin on vessels entering the Port. A recession in the steel trade accounts for a decrease of 48 vessels as compared with 1961. The only foodstuffs imported was a cargo of potatoes (100 tons).
