30/1-2. Printed and manuscript announcement, in Chinese, of the death of the Emperor Tao Kuang (d. 1850), with a manuscript translation into English signed by John Meadows, Acting Interpreter. 27 March 1850. The announcement was sent to Bowring by Hsü, Governor General of Kuangtung and Kuangsi.

Vermilion [i.e. imperial] scroll of the metropolitan examination in the Emperor's presence in the year Hsien-feng jen-tzu; Chang Yuen in first place. Following a list of names are eight folios of writings by Chang Yuen. Printed on the front cover is the name of Chang Yuen, in Chinese characters.
