Biographical note
Project Summary:The Performing Medicine Public Platform is a programme of debates and workshops that examine social, cultural and ethical dimensions of healthcare through the lens of performance and the visual arts. Questions of how to restore faith in and ‘humanise’ a medical profession that many people are intimidated and alienated by, are of interest to doctors, patients, policy makers and the general public. What do we mean by the rights of patients? How can we unwrap some of the political issues around ethnicity, gender, power and dignity in relation to medicine and public health? Performance and the arts can approach these questions from a different perspective providing a colourful, dynamic and provocative platform from which to examine these issues.
