Notebook containing notes on materia medica, mainly extracted from relevant historical and contemporary works, with a few press cuttings pasted in. Including pen sketches of Guaiacum leaves pasted in at f.118. The extracts are often dated with a note of where the work was read, such as the British Museum, the Linnean Society, the Pharmaceutical Society or the London Institution. Index. Printed Reading Room regulations of the British Museum pasted inside back cover.

1 volume 1 volume: approx. 235 x 160 mm., 134 ff. (original pagination 1-54, 56-137, 139-268 and unnumbered). Half green leather and gilt binding, with green buckram boards, and marbled end leaves and edges. Spine lettered in gilt 'N.B.13'. Paper label inside front cover 'Daniel Hanbury F.R.S. Clapham Common S.W.' 3 loose enclosures inside front cover.
