About this work

Description

A terracotta sculpture of a standing mother with an open mouth,cradling a child, made by one of Rita Simon's patients under the pseudonym 'Sally.' It is reproduced and analysed in Rita Simon's book, Symbolic Images in Art as Therapy on pages 143-146, Figures 8.11 and 8.12.

The artwork is very fragile; a hat on the mother's head has come off and been reattached with blue tack.

The title has been taken from Rita Simon's book, Symbolic Images in Art as Therapy.
