About this work

Description

The majority of this accumulation is made up of Horder's appointment diaries, of which he evidently kept two for many years - probably one at St Bartholomew's Hospital and one at his private practice. Those for the years 1928-1935 do not survive. Other material in the collection consists of a little memorabilia, his talks and writings, obituaries and appreciations of his life and work, and a very small accumulation of case notes, apparently from his private practice.

He was president of the Eugenics Society from 1935 until his death, chairman of the Empire Rheumatism Council 1936-1953, and chairman of the scientific advisory committee of the British Empire Cancer Campaign (BECC) and later of its grand council, as well as being involved in many other bodies as diverse as the Family Planning Association (FPA) and the Noise Abatement Society.
