    Wingfield. Burgess' Brink for the Cure, Prevention, or Relief of Gout, Gravel, cfyc. described and ascertained in and by the following description thereof (that is to say):— My Invention consists in the application of distilled water for the purpose of a drink, whereby gout, gravel, and other diseases will be cured, prevented, or relieved. It is well known that water, however filtered, contains much earthy 5 matter, and that the drinking of such water the earthy matter is separated in the human system, and thus is caused many disorders, more particularly gravel; but by using distilled water as a drink, this earthy matter being got rid of, consequently the drinking of such water will tend to prevent the forma¬ tion of diseases heretofore consequent on drinking water in its impure state. 10 In addition to this benefit, the animal parts held in such water in the form of animalculi are destroyed, and thus those disorders, which it is well known are caused by the decomposition of such animal matter, will be avoided, for by distillation the animalculi will be destroyed. In such cases the water should be used early after distillation, otherwise animalculi will quickly re-form. I 15 would therefore have it understood that what I claim is, the application of distilled water to the purposes of drink, whereby those disorders consequent on drinking impure water will be avoided. In witness whereof, I, the said Richard Burgess, have hereunto set my hand and seal, this Twenty-ninth day of March, in the year of our 20 Lord One thousand eight hundred and thirty-one. BURGESS, M.D, AND BE IT REMEMBERED, that on the Twenty-ninth day of March, in the year of our Eord 1831, the aforesaid Richard Burgess came before our said Lord the King in His Chancery, and acknowledged the Specification 25 aforesaid, and all and every thing therein contained and specified, in form above written. And also the Specification aforesaid was stamped according to the tenor of the Statute made for that purpose. Inrolled the Twentieth day of April, in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and thirty-one.
