Collations of press-cuttings, made by Martin Sherwood, Head of Public Relations, for Members of the Wellcome Foundation Board.

The cuttings have been sorted into sections under headings such as 'Animal Activists', 'Annual Results', 'Biotechnology', 'Industrial & Consumer', 'Miscellaneous', 'Overseas', 'Research', 'UK Medical', and 'Veterinary & Consumer'.

Includes a large number of articles on Wellcome Foundation profits and the planned January 1986 stock market flotation, an article describing the merger of the Wellcome Foundation and the ICI group's animal health interests and the subsequent formation of Coopers Animal Health Ireland Ltd; articles from local and national press on government proposals to introduce a limited list of drugs that can be provided on the NHS and BMA opposition to the plans, article from the Crewe Chronicle on a warning by A. J. Shepperd, Chairman of the Wellcome Foundation that this will reduce Wellcome Foundation annual sales revenue by £9 million, also includes a clipping from the Dartford and Swanley Chronicle on the effect this will have on the Wellcome Foundation's manufacturing plant in Dartford and its 2850 employees.

There are also a large number of articles from the national press and papers local to Beckenham on the activities of animal rights campaigners, including reports of the Animal Liberation Front's campaign against current and former officials of the Wellcome Foundation, such as two petrol bombs being thrown at Sir John Vane's home (Wellcome Foundation Research and Development Director), and the then Home Office Minister David Mellor's response.
