Biographical note
Project description:There is absence of quality, non commercial children's magazines for 2 to 7 years olds, particularly magazines that focus on science and art. OKIDO Studio believes that children deserve their own magazine that inspires new ways of thinking about science and art through informal learning. The magazine acts as the lynchpin of the project and the science and art message is reinforced and further disseminated by the workshops and interactive website. This project aims to develop OKIDOs potential as an art and science magazine, website and series of workshops that will stimulate interest and curiosity into biomedical science and the artistic process for young children aged between two and seven years old. OKIDO magazine integrates contemporary artwork with subtle scientific inquiry to engage the child and their parent/carer in informal and fun learning, through imaginative story-telling, activities and illustrations. OKIDO aims to research fresh methods to initiate new scientific thinking and artistic exploration. This original project will be realised through artists, scientists, illustrators and designers collaboration, and in consultation with children and parents.
