Biographical note

The second ICM/WHO/UNICEF pre-Congress Workshop as part of the Safe Motherhood Initiative, established at the International Conference on Safe Motherhood in Nairobi, 1985. The first ICM/WHO/UNICEF pre-Congress Workshop was in The Hague, 1987. This Workshop focused on the educational issues for midwives to support the programme's overall aim of reducing maternal mortality in line with the WHO's Millenium Development Goals(MDGs).
