Description

Photograph of a Kwanyama woman in Angola performing an enema on a boy: filling the mouth with liquid. According to the accession register, the photograph is part of a set taken at the homestead of the District Chief of Owangwe district, near Namakunde, Lower Cunene, South Angola. The negatives were loaned to the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum by Miss A. Powell-Cotton and the museum made copy negatives and prints which were accessioned in 1939 (accession number for this photograph is PHO 11218).
