Biographical note
Cooper joined the Royal Navy in 1904, served in the First World War, and as Surgeon received the D.S.O. in 1918. In the Second World War he was Principal Medical Officer for Air Defence 1939-1941. (Cf. Lancet, 1947, ii, p. 965).
