Description

A painting in Rita Simon's Traditional Linear style, depicting people watching a girl about to dive into a swimming pool. It was produced by a patient with the pseudonym "Jennie" who is discussed in The Symbolism of Style pp43-44 and Symbolic Images in Art As Therapy pp128-133. Additional artworks are in PP/RSI/B/1/6/2.

Biographical note

"Jennie" was a nine year old girl who had lived in residential care since the death of her parents when she was seven. She attended weekly art therapy sessions with Rita Simon after school to help with her bereavement. She later attended an art group at the residential home.
