About this work

Description

Tight weave cotton blanket woven on a hand loom and a cream sample of fabric stapled with a paper label identifying it as the 'Remnants of a tablecloth'. Both items were supposedly made by Mary Wellcome [née Curtis], Henry Wellcome's mother, the tablecloth made 'as a girl', and show signs of heavy use including staining.
