Note from J Eybney: "Sir, Please to let Timboo or bearer have the sum of £2.7.6 on my account for goods bought. J C Eybney." The note has been annotated in pencil by Francis Galton "What goods will you have the £2.7.6 in? FG", and this has been crossed through.
[Timboo was one of Galton's wagon drivers during the Damaraland expedition].
