I Emil Blumenthal, Merchant and Manufacturer of Breiteweg 168, Magdeburg in the Empire of Germany, do hereby declare the nature of this invention and in what manner the same is to be performed, to be particularly described and ascertained in and by the following statement: — This invention is intended to provide means to prevent the formation of sores from walking and riding (intertrigo) and also to soothe the pain of those suffering from hemorrhoids, which pain may originate in walking, riding or sitting by the swollen parts rubbing against each other and it consists in plate like wad pads, the surfaces of which have a form corres said pads. edge view and Fig. 3 in plan. The pad consists of a plate cut out of a wad plate of about 15 millimeters in thickness, which plate has three Hat sides, the fourth side having a circular shape. This shape of the plate is intended to correspond with the space to be filled whereby the side a is placed towards the anus whereas the opposite circular edge corresponds with the natural curve of the seat. In order to disinfect this pad or render it antiseptic as well as soft and smooth, and to preserve its form and elasticity, furthermore in order to soothe the pain, those surfaces of the pad which come in contact with the seat are covered with a substance which consists of harts tallow, to which is added °/0 salycylic acid, ^ °/0 boric acid, and 2 °/0 cocain; the curved side of the pad remains uncoated so as not to soil the linen. The harts tallow renders the pad soft, prevents rubbing, and not being melted at the normal blood heat it keeps the form of the pad. The salicylic acid and boric acid are for disinfecting or antiseptic effect, thus preventing the tallow from becoming rancid whereas the cocain has a soothing effect. If however the surfaces of the pad are coated with this tallowy substance by steeping the pad in the molten mixture, the latter would be too much absorbed thereby forming a hard crust on the pad. Consequently its softness and elasticity would be lost. For this reason the molten tallow mixture is, in a pulverized or atomized state, spread over the pad which can be effected by means of a simple spraying apparatus. During this operation the tallow adheres in single minute drops to the wad and although well connected to said wad does not form with the same a solid homogeneous mass but presents a smooth continuous coating which however to a certain degree absorbs sweat and blood and still preserves the softness and elasticity of the pad surfaces. Having now particularly described and ascertained the nature of this inven¬ tion and in what manner the same is to be performed, I declare that what I claim is :— A pad for use in case of walking or riding sores (intertrigo) or of hemorrhoids consisting of a wad plate in one piece, which corresponds with the space to be filled, and the surfaces of which are rendered elastic and soft and their form preserved by being coated with harts tallow, which in a pulverized or atomized state is [Price 8d.] ponding with the space to be filled up with
