About this work

Description

In her will Mrs Gladys Ricarde-Seaver left a bequest to the Eugenics Education and several birth control clinics, subject to various annuities being paid from her estate to named individuals before the residue of the income was distributed. The Society had to take legal action to establish their entitlement to the legacy in 1934, and then legal action again had to be taken after the deaths of the annuitants in the early 1990s to ensure that the ongoing income was still to be paid to what was by that time the Galton Institute.

A good deal of very routine material about the administration of the bequest (letters from the bank, statements, income tax forms, etc) has been weeded.
