About this work

Description

[Medicina microcosmica]. Produced in ?Celaya, Mexico. Wanting: ff.1-2, 83-84; a gathering at the beginning and another at the end of the final index; and perhaps the title-page. In margin of f. 31r: "Soi del R.P. D[o]n[?] Lucas Vasquez á 20 de Setiembre de 1778 al estando en Nuestro Com[ven]to de Celalla." An elaborate work originally in one hand, partly intended for those (f.28v, Prologo al Lector:) "que havitando entre Barvaras gentes carezcan de medico, y medicina (quales son los misioneros de la Compañia de Jesus)". Divided into three original parts plus a fourth, additional section. The whole is supplied with indexes, textual figures, pencil sketches of fellow Religious, and additional notes and remedies in other hands primarily on paper spliced into the final index.

Ff. 3-115, 8ll 20 x 14.5 cm. Bound in 18th cent. limp leather in modern slip-case. Margins cropped, affecting part of the text.
