About this work

Description

Report with signatures and rúbricas of Cadena, 8 religious and 6 physicians. Includes only the medical evidence of 6 physicians of Mexico and Puebla: Pedro Rengel, Juan de Contreras [d. 1624], Juan de Barrios [see M.9], Pedro de Porras Farfán, Hernando Rangel Ortiz, and Pedro López [1527-1597]; all of whom (1595-99) agree that Cadena's health would benefit by his removal from the cold air of Puebla. His chronic and painful debilitating digestive symptoms are fully described. [See Arechederreta (1796), p. 17; Gibson (1952), pp. 54-61; and Fernández de Recas (1965), pp. [253]-260; Guerra (1949) has commented on these documents and their background, and has transcribed the medical evidence in the second part].
