Mental Health Act 1982

Correspondence and papers relating to issues of mental health with regard to patient care, chiefly with regard to implementation of the Mental Health Act 1982. The Patients Association was one of the organisations consulted by the DHSS for suggestions of members of the new Mental Health Act Commission (due to come into operation in Sep 1983), and for its views on the draft guidance for the new arrangements for the electoral registration of voluntary patients in mental hospitals, the draft order on the establishment and constitution of the Mental Health Act Commission 1983, the draft Mental Health (Hospital, Guardianship and Consent to Treatment) Regulations 1983, Mental Health Act 1983 Patients Leaflets, and procedures for applying for a mental health review tribunal for those detained under Section 2 of the Act. Includes the Patients Association's responses and comments and final versions of the statutory regulations including specimen official forms and patient information leaflets produced under the Mental Health Act. File also contains DHSS press releases.
