Dear Francis, Leonard sent me a copy of Montgomery's letter to him about the Atheneum proposal to publish Jim's book. I think it a good idea to press Atheneum to let us read the latest draft of the book. On the other hand, I haven't much interest in explaining in person to the editors why I object to the book because I think this has been made clear in various writings already and these writings could be supplied to Atheneum. I don't see much point either in seeking immunity from future claims of persecution by announcing now that we don't intend to pursue an injunction. I feel that the less said the better. It is tiresome that this whole question has come up again and I am sure that you, like me, don't want to spend more time on it. It is encouraging, however, that Olby seems to be pushing on with preparing his book. I wonder whether you would be able to drop in here some time? There is a certain amount of encouraging news.
