Biographical note

Project Summary:Life and Death in a Tudor Bedchamber' is a new exhibition at the historic medieval townhouse of Barley Hall, located in central York. The exhibition explores everyday life for the residents of Barley Hall 500 years ago, by examining unique archaeological evidence from the period. Through interactive displays, details of new research, and recently excavated objects, visitors will discover what the standards and capabilities of medieval medical care were, what cures the practitioners of the day used, what factors affected how long people lived and their state of health, and what comparisons can be made with life in the 21st century.
