Biographical note

Project Summary:Going Dark is a new immersive performance created by Sound & Fury about a man losing his sight due to macular degeneration. Using the company's innovative theatre vocabulary of surround sound design, moments of total darkness and imaginative lighting and projections, Going Dark will examine modern man's connection with the world. It will explore perception and vision, through the story of man dealing with the consequences of the onset of blindness. We are asking Wellcome to fund a period of research with scientific advisors Dr ffytche and Professor Rogers, and with patients contacted via the Macular Disease Society and RNIB. Going Dark's potential has already been recognised: Sound & Fury were awarded the prestigious Lin bury prize last year which supports Ales Valasek to design the piece, and the company have just been awarded a grant from Arts Council England to fund a tour in autumn 2011. Going Dark is produced by Fuel.
