Papers relating to the commission de lunatico inquirendo to inquire into the sanity of the Revd Thomas Gayfere of the Gloucester County Lunatic Asylum (and formerly of Dr [Charles C] Langworthy's asylum at Box, Wilts.). Depositions include statements by William John Church, surgeon, of Bath, and Charles Edward Prior, surgeon of the Gloucester Country Lunatic Asylum. Also included are writings by Gayfere, including letters to Sir Robert Peel and the Archbishop of Canterbury.
