Description
Common-place book containing medical, scientific and other extracts, poems, riddles, etc.
Dates c. 1685-1705.
Mainly in English, but with some Latin entries.
There is a note on the first leaf concerning Holden written by William Hamper [1776-1831] dated 1809, and a dedication from Hamper of the volume to Dr. Edward Johnstone [1757-1851] dated the same year, written inside the upper cover.

Biographical note
In the note on the first leaf Henry Holden M.D. is described as having been one of the Senior Fellows of Magdalen College, Oxford. He obtained his M.D. in 1700, lived at Erdington, and was buried at Aston Church, Birmingham.
A notice of William Hamper, antiquary, is found in the D.N.B.
