Biographical note

A New Zealander, Bruere met Ferguson-Smith when a postgraduate at the Veterinary Hospital in Glasgow. He returned to New Zealand to take up a post at Massey University, Palmerston North, being appointed Professor of Veterinary Medicine and Pharmacology in 1975. He was an authority in veterinary cytogenetics.
