Description

Various legal papers concerning the prohibition (26 March, 1919) of the importation of sheep dip into Australia without prior consent. A consignment of Cooper's Sheep Dip (14,300 gallons) was held by Australian Customs. Cooper & Nephews sought legal advice on the matter. The file comprises:

7 January, 1920. Copy Bond, as security for Customs given by William Cooper & Nephews. Consent to import was agreed "upon the importers furnishing the security hereunder written now" (the sum of £10,000).

6 September, 1920. Opinion of Mr T J C Tomlin KC (Chamberlayne, Hacking & Co, Westminster).

3 November, 1920. Opinion of Mr J J C Tomlin KC (Chamberlayne, Hacking & Co, Westminster).
