Description

A painting in Rita Simon's Traditional Linear style, depicting a view of Stockport with the viaduct. It was produced by a male patient at a psychiatric day hospital. He had a breakdown at the age of eighteen and began attending the day hospital. He initially just drew little scribbles but his art developed as he worked with Rita Simon He was discharged from hospital after six months but continued to work with Simon until he continued his art training with a Dutch artist. He went on to hold an exhibition of his work. This artwork is an early painting produced before his training with the Dutch artist. This information has been taken from notes made during conversations between Rita Simon and Wellcome staff between 1995 and 1997.
